Georgia's Second Week

We took Georgia to the doctor for a weight check last Monday, on 9/12. Georgia had gained a whole pound from the previous Monday (7lbs, 7oz). Once again, Dr.Maddox was very impressed!

Since Monday, however, Georgia has taken a turn with her sleeping and temperament. The first week we were home with her, she was doing a pretty good job of eating a sleeping. Now the spit up and tummy issues have kicked in, and she is sleeping very little (day or night). At times she is inconsolable and it's been pretty difficult at times, but we are trying to get it figured out. I must say that Patrick is the best husband and Daddy I could ever ask for, which makes it so much easier for me. Even though I am the one up at night doing feedings and diaper changes, Patrick is the best moral support I can ask for, and is always willing to get up with a good attitude to relieve me when I need a break. He took Banks to the Clemson game on Saturday. Banks had a blast, and it made Patrick so happy to watch him excited to cheer on his Tigers. It was such a big help to me that I knew my boys were having a fun day, so that I could stay home and take care of baby girl.

Regardless of how difficult and sleep deprived it may be right now, we sure do have a house full of love and I love every second of our life! And it's a good thing Georgia's so cute because it helps us tolerate her screaming...

A few pictures...

We have a photographer coming on Friday to do newborn pictures, but Patrick and I played with our camera here...

Georgia's First Week

Well, sleep has been interesting since we've had Georgia home! She definitely has her days and nights mixed up, which I could have told you from her being in my tummy and moving around all night. Patrick has, of course, been so awesome and hands-on about helping me in every way he possibly can. And a huge shout out to my mom, who saved our lives (and sanity) on Saturday night, taking two shifts of just holding her for a couple of hours at a time so that we could sleep between feedings (and Georgia wouldn't allow us to put her down). My parents have also been amazing about helping around the house, cooking us meals, helping with Banks, and running any errands needed. We've needed a lot more help this time, having Banks to also continue to take care of and make sure he is happy and healthy in the adjustment.

We had Georgia's first check-up on Monday morning. Dr.Hart saw her, since it was Labor Day and he was the doctor on call. She weighed 6lbs, 7oz, which is what she weighed when we left the hospital. She is definitely a good nurser. Dr.Hart mentioned that her little legs and feet turn in, but he agreed with both Dr.Draison and Dr.Maddox that they will self-correct. It was just the way she was sitting in my belly! Otherwise, we got a "perfect" report, praise Jesus. We will go back on Monday for her next appointment, to make sure she is still gaining weight.

Patrick went back to work on Tuesday, which I had a hard time with because I enjoyed having my new little family of four under the same roof together for these few days. We had a couple of visitors this week - Aunt Casey got back from her cruise and got to come spend some time with her, and Andrea came to meet her too.

I have been able to really cherish and appreciate this time with Banks, Georgia, and Patrick. You realize with your second how fast the time is going to go by, and the long nights will be a distant memory, if not completely forgotten... and the sweet moments will be a memory too. I'm trying so hard to take it day by day and live in the present. If you can't tell, I have turned into a mushy mess again, just like I did with Banks, but that's OK because I know that will pass too (postpartum hormones are no joke!) These are some of the sweetest days of our lives, and I wouldn't take anything for each moment we have just the way it is.

The Hospital Stay

Our stay in the hospital was shorter this time, as they let second time parents go home on the second day, if all is well. Dr.Shelley and Dr.Maddox both came and did their checks early on Friday morning, and Georgia had her newborn screenings on Friday afternoon (once she was 24 hours old). We all passed, so we were cleared to go home.

We had lots of sweet visitors while we were in the hospital (besides grandparents):

-Dr.Bailey, Debbie Foster, and Amy Rawlings from Central Pres
-Kayla (Price) and Cassidy from work
-Kayla Guffee
-Brantley
-Andy and Patti Mowlajko

And the grandparents:
