Georgia's One Month Old

We survived the first month! Georgia has been very different from Banks, and has brought about a lot of new love, and also challenges. I took her back to Dr.Maddox last Monday, because her tummy issues had gotten to a point that she just couldn't seem to get comfortable. She was having a lot of projectile spit up, and extreme fussiness during the spitting up episodes. She was also have fussy nursing sessions, pulling away and crying while eating. This screamed reflux to me. In addition to her tummy issues, she was also having a watery eye, so I figured it was time to take her in. At her appointment, she weighed 8lbs, 12oz, which again impressed Dr.Maddox. Even with her tummy, she's not having any trouble gaining weight. We left the appointment with eye drops, a cauterized belly button, and some reflux meds. Overall, Dr.Maddox still said she looks very healthy and is doing great.

She is still waking up about every 2.5-3 hours during the night for feedings. A couple of nights, she has made it for a 3.5-4 hour stretch, but that has been few and far between. She doesn't really sleep much at all during the day. We are trying to get some more consistent naps in, but she is a very light sleeper and doesn't usually make it more than about 30 minutes for her naps. Her favorite thing to do, and the way she naps the best, is to be strapped into the Baby Bijorn.

We have gotten a couple of good smiles out of her over the last few days, and she is definitely becoming more alert. She seems to love it when Banks gets in her face, which he also loves to do. He can usually calm down her crying better than me and Patrick, at least briefly. Banks continues to be a great big brother. This morning, he covered up her legs with a blanket because she had kicked her feet out. While he is still being very sweet towards her, he is seeming to act out and have some defiance towards me and Patrick over the last couple of weeks. I let him decide on Friday whether he wanted to stay home or go spend the night with Yiayia, and he picked Yiayia and Papou. He had a good night with them, and Patrick and I enjoyed having a morning to sleep in (Georgia sleeps best in the morning from about 6-9 usually).
